Welcome and thank you for visiting my blog! I'm a mom of three and a portrait photographer in Fairfield County, CT specializing in families and head shots.

I use my blog to share posts about my sessions, announce specials and to share a piece of myself!

I love to help women feel beautiful from the inside out and to help families take a moment to be fully present and connect with each! I do that through my photography and also through sharing my own struggles here on my blog!

Certified Professional Photographer- Fairfield County, CT

Well, it’s official! I now have the certificate and press release to prove it! I am one of ONLY THREE Certified Professional Photographers in Fairfield County and only 2,000 world wide.

This was a goal of mine for four years. The exam preparation and image submission is time consuming and challenging so I put it off and off. Then I decided to commit to the process and managed to achieve it this winter!

In a market where anyone with a “good camera” can put up a website and call themselves a “Professional Photographer” this certificate is priceless to me! I’ve been in business for five years this July and am thrilled to have this honor!

Here is the official press release!

Local Photographer Earns Certification

Andrea Topalian of Moments by Andrea Photography in Wilton, CT has earned the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designations from the Professional Photographic Certification Commission. According to the commission’s website, Andrea is one of only three CPPs in Fairfield County.

Topalian earned this designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring her artistic and technical competence. The Professional Photographic Certification Commission (PPCC) currently recognizes less than 2,000 Certified Professional Photographers worldwide.

The PPCC is the leading body for certifying imaging professionals. CPPs must complete a written examination, an image evaluation, and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. Certification must be renewed on a periodic basis, ensuring continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.

Topalian is a studio and location portrait photographer. She has a professional studio in her Wilton home, where she resides with her husband and three small children. Topalian’s work can be seen in various local businesses as well as in the homes of hundreds of Fairfield & Westchester County families.  For more information visit Topalian’s website: www.momentsbyandrea.com

Photo Contest- Fall 2010 Images

Stuck in the cold during a storm along with most of my clients, I decided it would be fun to grab a few of my favorite Fall 2010 images and have a contest. I have hundreds of images that I love but wanted to keep it limited so I picked a few from a facebook album and put them in a new album. Since I only picked 20 there were many amazing images with super cute kids that were not in the contest. I really hope that the moms of those kids were not hurt!

Overall it went really well. I tried to inform all participants about their images being in the contest but not sure they all got the memo! Most did chime in and a few shared the news with their friends and family who cheered them on with votes! In the end it was down to three who were competing in a tight race. It looked like it was going to be a tie until our winner came out of nowhere and took the prize with 26 votes!

First prize is a $200 credit toward the client’s next session and that goes to the family with Jets Fan (C & J)! The two families in second place tied with 21 votes (T.M.H. and C.E.)! Although not announced in my original contest rules, I will be rewarding them each with a $50 (NO-make that $75) credit toward their next sessions. Such effort must be rewarded! And one more winner with 11 votes (L.H.) will get a $50 credit for having more than 10 votes!

Lastly I assigned numbers to each voter and then selected a random number using www.random.org. That number was 44 and the winner is Allison P who voted for C.E’s pic! Yeah! She will also receive a $50 credit!

Thank you ALL for participating! Here are the four images with the most votes:

More precious newborn photos- Wilton, CT

Lucky me! I had three newborn boys in three days. Here are a few of my favorite images from the last two sessions. Newborns change from one day to the next. I think the newborn professional portraits are some of the most important ones for a family. We all adore our newborns and stare at them trying to engrave every little detail in our memory. We take countless snapshots but nothing records the details with more accuracy and beauty than professional portraits.

Newborn Portraits- Baby Photographer,Wilton, CT

I got to spend this morning with the adorable baby brother of one of my Baby Club graduates. He is two weeks old but born five weeks early so he is teeny tiny. Like his big sister, he is gorgeous!

I put together the set last night and picked out some fun props for newborn boys. I included an image of the set for those of you that are curious about how this is set up.

He was a little fussy to start but once we got him to sleep, mom and I had a lot of fun with all the different props. Newborn sessions can be 2-3 hours long. We only had two hours but managed to get some great shots before he had to go pick up his big sister!I love my job!

Pet Portraits- Fairfield County, CTpet

I’ve photographed many families with their pets over the years. It is really sweet to see how much families love their dogs in particular. They are definitely part of the family! For some people who don’t have children or whose children have grown up, their dogs are their babies!

Dogs are so fun to photograph because they have so much personality and show so much emotion in the expressions on their faces! I really enjoy photographing dogs and recently decided to bring them into my studio for their portraits. Here are a couple of my furry friends from the studio and from a few family sessions! More to come!

Interested in a professional portrait of your dog or other pet? You can bring them for a family portrait or schedule their own session! You can have them here at the studio or I can come to your home to photograph them in their own environment. Getting a new puppy or kitten!? Book now before they get any bigger!
